A great interview on MicroISV from Phil Wright from Crownwood Software. He’s a proper MicroISV being only one employee, selling controls he develops in .Net.
The best bit of advice i feel he gives is to get your product to market/released, as soon as possible. This is something I’ve been delaying with the forum software I’ve been developing. Yes I know there are loads of forum software products out there already, but I just wanted to do one myself to 1, see if I could do it, and 2, see if I had the stamina to actually complete it.
After reading the interview I’ve decided I’m definitely going to get a version working on the web and get the guys from the BBA reman forum to test it. BBA reman will probably be the first place to use it so getting the feedback of the loyal community over there will be a huge bonus. Plus it will invigorate me to put more work into it!
Becoming a MicroISV that sells software or components is a long term dream for me. I feel it would be better than doing the self employed .net development I am at the moment as I would actually have a product to sell rather than a service. It’s a long way off but it’s something to aim for! ps any great ideas for products all great fully received!
