Pocket Blogger is finally live

Well my first attempt at a .Net compact framework application, and a kind of Micro ISV product is available for first testing! It is very basic (very very basic), but it will give you an idea of what I am trying to achieve.

All you need to test it is a .Text weblog, and a PocketPC. I’ve tested this on my blog here, and with my iPaq 4100 with PocketPC 2003 OS.

The basis behind the idea was to develop something I can blog with while on the move. Not only does Pocket Blogger allow you to write blog entries without having to have IE open, but you can also write while you are disconnected. Then when you get home and you have internet conectivity, you can upload all your saved posts.

Before blogging with Pocket Blogger, you’ll have to go and enter your Blogs host, eg http://weblog.vb-tech.com., and application, eg nick (as my blog is http://weblog.vb-tech.com/nick). I’ve left my settings in here as an example. Enter your username and password and then you should be away.

As I said this is the first release, so it should be considered pre Alpha! If anyone manages to give it a go though I’d love to hear any feedback.

Download the MSI here.

The most time consuming part of creating this was actually creating the MSI installer. Let me know if it works ok! Expect more blogs to be working with this as well soon. If you’ve got any requests let me know!
