ConnectViaBooks.com

Phew, well I can finally tell you what I’ve been working on for the past months!
I think we’ve done really well to achieve what we have in that time. Well here’s the URL:

www.connectviabooks.com

taken straight from the site:
Connect with people who love the same books as you do!
Ever read a great book and wanted to discuss it with someone?
Ever wanted to find people locally who like the same books as you do?
Find people who share your interests, your hobbies or just read the same books.

The original idea is Flemming Madsen’s, a good friend of mine. He needed some help with the programming side and so we got together and both worked very hard. We’ve put in a lot of late nights and weekends but are both really happy with the outcome. The booklist part runs off the Amazon webservice. All the site is ASP.NET 1.1 with MS Sql Server. It wasn’t really an option to user ASP.NET 2.0 as the Beta 2 wasn’t even released when we started work.

We’ve got tons of ideas to progress the site, and have received great feedback from the people we’ve already asked to look at it. Please take a look yourself, register, give the site a good going over, and let me know your feedback. Tell your friends, spread the word, and if you see me at the bar, I’ll buy you a beer!

Ps I’ll be at the geek dinner tonight if you can find me!

Hi Nick

Great Site!

Going to spend some more time this afternoon going through it before taking you up on the offer of the beer later :)

Nick Swann last night gave me his elevator pitch for a site he has just launched - www.connectviabooks.com. He did a great job against my constant heckling. He suggested I take a look at it and feed back any comments....
